I partnered up with my friend Shay again to actually make the tag. But from there I started to do what my favorite things were. Our tag is each of our initials and each of the letters stands for something we both like. The first S is for softball since we both play it. The M is for music since we love music. Also the other S is for swimming since we both like swimming. Lastly the L is for laughing because we crack each other up.
ALS is a disease called Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is a disease of the nerve cells and spinal cord that controls voluntarily muscle movement. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Mostly it hits between the ages of 40-70 and it hits over 30,000 people at a time. Most people are also wondering who made the ice bucket challenge there is only one name we can think of Pete Frates. Chris Kennedy, a golfer in Sarasota, Fla., was nominated by a friend to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge, which at the time, had nothing to do with ALS. The campaign was not tied to any specific charity, and participants would select a charity of their choice for donations. Kennedy’s friend had selected a charity that benefits a young child with cancer in the area. Kennedy, passing the challenge along, then selected ALS because a relative is suffering from the disease. Kennedy nominated his wife’s cousin Jeanette Senerchia, whose husband Anthony is the one suffering from ALS. Kennedy posted this video on July 15--what appears to be the first instance in which the Ice Bucket Challenge and ALS were linked. The ALS ice bucket challenge has ranked in a lot of money from the most normal people to the most famous celebrities and millionaires. People dumping ice water on their heads for a cause have helped raise money over $100 million. Go watch the Disney stars past and present doing the ice bucket challenge to raise lots of money. I made this with some famous people but also regular people doing it too. I did this challenge with Shay and we had a fantastic time with this project. We wanted to do the art that is famously known throughout America and the whole world. So we did the painting "Starry night" because we both remembered it from the younger years. Then we thought of the Mona Lisa that I was supposed to draw when I was in 5th grade and the big story behind the expression she has. We also did the American Gothic that is a little more local for the area. Lastly we did the Scream painting that is a famous painting for is expression as well.Go look at Shay's blog that includes the close ups of the pictures http://shay19.weebly.com/check-out-my-blog/presenting-challenge-2-famous-paintings I wanted to do something that I really love and something that would challenge me to draw. I drew a wolf with a lot of shading. I'm not used to shading a lot so I knew that this would challenge me more than anything. It was a process of trial and error; it wasn't perfect the very first time so when I got it all done that night I took a long look at it and thought that I could improve on it. I redrew it without watching the video that helped me in the first place.
I wanted to do a logo that meant something to me. So I did something that I do every summer. Though it didn't turn out the way that I wanted it to it was a good print off my very first time printing. I loved seeing how the cravings came out with the red around it.
